Palo Duro 20K

I have been training since June to run in the Palo Duro Trail 20K (12.5 mile) run. My sister put me on a schedule and we did all of our long trail runs together. I had a great time preparing and had a blast running. It is amazing what our bodies can do when we put in the time! We learned a lot of lessons from doing this race. We finished 38th and 39th over all and were the 8th and 9th girls to finish. It took us two hours and ten minutes. We were hoping to finish in under two, but we were towards the back of the pack at the start and the trail was too narrow to pass people for the first three miles. sometime we were only going like 12 or 13 mile an hour for the first three miles. I was going crazy! After mile three we were able to break away from the pack and get up to our training pace. It was such a beautiful run and all of the people were so nice. I would love to run this one again. Thanks for my support crew and especially my husband, Nick, for sitting this one out and letting me shine.
